How We’re Stocking & Styling Our Guest Bedroom for Summer Visitors

We’ve officially entered guest season and in our home, that means it’s time to refresh the space we’ve set aside for family and friends. Whether it’s a weekend visit or a longer stay, I want our guest bedroom to feel clean, functional, and just a little bit special.

This week, I’m walking through the exact steps we’re taking to stock, style, and set up our guest bedroom for summer. I’ll be sharing a new project each day here and on Instagram — everything from small installations (like a shower dispenser I’m oddly excited about) to the final styling and welcome basket filled with local goodies.

We’ve kept things simple and budget-friendly but still focused on comfort and function — and whether you’re updating a guest room, hosting soon, or just love a little before-and-after progress, I hope this series gives you ideas you can use.

The Goal for the Space

Our vision for this room is to make it feel a little like a boutique hotel stay — clean, minimal, and thoughtfully stocked with everything a guest might need. We’re not going over the top with decor just yet (we only recently moved in!), but we wanted to get the essentials in place so it feels intentional and welcoming.

The space is definitely still evolving — the furniture will likely shift, art will get added, and over time it’ll reflect more of our personal style. But for now, our focus is on function and comfort: a cozy bed, privacy basics, and small details that make guests feel cared for without cluttering the space.

This phase is about building the foundation: clear surfaces, soft layers, and useful upgrades that make a difference right away.

What We’re Tackling This Week

Here’s what’s on the list for our guest bedroom this week — one small project each day to slowly layer in comfort, privacy, and personality:

Monday: Install and stock the shower dispenser in the guest bath

Tuesday: Add temporary blinds for quick, renter-friendly privacy

Wednesday: Stock bathroom essentials + share our favorite guest extras

Thursday: Decor + staging touches (plants, trays, and soft textures)

Friday: Pull together a welcome basket with a few thoughtful treats

Saturday: Final room reveal — before & after, plus sources!

We’re keeping each task approachable and easy to replicate, even if your space is small or still in progress like ours. It’s less about perfection and more about creating a place that feels readyto host.

Along the way, I’ll be sharing a few of the practical pieces we’ve already added — things like a small basket of extra toiletries, fresh towels, and a spot to hang or set down a bag. These early touches have already made the room feel more intentional, even before we get into the styling details.

We’re kicking things off today with one of my favorite simple upgrades: installing a wall-mounted shower dispenser in the guest bathroom.

A Peek at What’s Coming

Each day this week, I’ll be sharing quick videos, step-by-step peeks, and small tips for turning a guest room into a space that feels thoughtful and lived-in — without having to do a full makeover.

You’ll see the installs, the styling choices, and little behind-the-scenes moments on Instagram, TikTok, and here on the blog. Friday’s welcome basket is one of my favorite details (and such a fun way to add personality), and Saturday’s final reveal will bring it all together.

Whether you’re hosting this season or just bookmarking ideas for later, I hope this week gives you inspiration for simple ways to welcome others well — even if the space is still evolving.

We’re starting simple in our guest bedroom — the same neutral bedding we already had, layers, a few essentials tucked into drawers, and a blank canvas that we’re slowly adding to throughout the week. It’s not finished, and that’s okay — this is truly a starting point. I’d love to know: what are your guest room must-haves? Whether it’s a cozy extra blanket, a spare phone charger, or your favorite candle, I’m always looking for ideas to add that extra touch.

You can follow along on Instagram all week for daily videos, product links, and behind-the-scenes moments as we bring this space to life — one small project at a time.
